Dakine Consulting, Inc. was founded on Kipp M. Imel's vision of a firm where clients could get objective, genuine advice from a tax professional's perspective. The firm provides tax preparation services, and with every return we aim to serve our clients as trusted tax advisors.
Kipp has spent his entire career in tax. He began as a college intern at a Chicagoland accounting firm in the late 1990s and was hired full time after graduating from Clearwater Christian College in May 1999 with a double major in Accounting and Business Administration and minors in Finance, Computer Information Science, and Bible.
What's in the name? After several trips to Hawaii in the mid-2000s, Kipp was captivated by the spirit of Aloha and came to love a local expression: da kine. Hawaiian Pidgin for roughly "the kind," da kine can mean anything and everything, can be used in a multitude of ways, and conveys quality and authenticity. E komo mai - welcome!
Dakine Consulting, Inc. was incorporated in Illinois on July 11, 2006. On January 5, 2022, the company acquired its first tax practice, B&H Tax Service in northeast San Antonio, Texas. Exactly one year later, on January 5, 2023, it acquired a second, Akamai Tax Service in Waimanalo, on the windward side of Oahu, Hawaii. Today, these locations represent thriving tax practices servicing clients tax needs and striving to attain exceptional status in this narrow domain.
